The artist behind the glass, the human behind the Janet (etc. etc.)

Abigail [abby] Kosberg

she/her | pisces | tummy ache survivor

I’m a Minneapolis-based artist, curator, & nonprofit consultant. I currently live with my loving husband and our flock of dogs (Janet, Titan, & more??) in the beautiful plains of one of the suspiciously too many regions claiming to be associated with Paul Bunyon.

I started my career in the art world just over 10 years ago with hopes of one day working as a dignified museum curator. Since then, I sprinted through three degrees, many internships, lots of part-time jobs, & any curator-adjacent opportunity I could find—eventually working my way up to the title of ‘Executive Director & Curator’.

Unfortunately, years of sprinting led to some serious burnout. I stepped down from my director role in early 2023 to recover from that burnout, prioritize my physical & mental health, and heal from some work-related trauma. I decided to focus on creativity as a daily habit, & through that practice, I started to more seriously teach myself stained glass.

As someone who’s constantly jumped from one art-related hyper focus to another, I’m not sure if it’s the fact that I got diagnosed/medicated for ADHD for the first time or that I was unemployed & had a lot of time on my hands, but I fell hard for stained glass. Much of my work is biographical in some way, exploring my relationship to my body, my femininity, and my loved ones (in addition to things I find funny & Janet spam). I believe I’ve found my voice through glass, I’m excited to share it, and I haven’t looked back since walking away from my burnt out life.

All that goes to say, I’m so glad you’re here and thankful you read this far on my ‘about me’ page. Feel free to send me a message if you have any questions, thoughts, or even if you just want a random Janet picture. Cheers to you!
